Stewardship Prayers of the Faithful 2008

Parishes are encouraged to include a stewardship theme petition in the prayers of the faithful each week. A few suggested petitions are offered below. Please feel free to edit or rewrite in a style that is familiar to your parish community. 

General Stewardship Petition:
This petition can be adjusted each week to reflect a different ministry or activity.

For the members of our parish who serve as __________, may you sustain them in their stewardship of this vital parish ministry…We pray to the Lord.

January - 2008
May we resolve during this new year to live as good stewards by sharing more generously of our time, talents, and treasure throughout the new year… We pray to the Lord.

Stewardship Renewal Season
During this time of stewardship renewal in our parish, may all parish households answer the call to discipleship by completing and returning a stewardship intention form…We pray to the Lord. 

February – 2008
That our actions build up our parish community as we live out our call to be good stewards of God’s gifts… We pray to the Lord.

Lent – February to March
During this season of Lent, may we open our hearts to the needs of the poor and the oppressed and use our gifts to ease their burdens … We pray to the Lord.

Palm Sunday - Holy Week
That our every action demonstrate our gratitude to God for the gift of salvation made possible by the sacrifice of His Son… We pray to the Lord.

Easter – Easter Season
May our actions always demonstrate our appreciation to God for the promise of the Resurrection and eternal life… We pray to the Lord.

April – 2008
As we celebrate the bicentennial of the founding of our Diocese, may we model the same spirit of stewardship exemplified in the lives of the early settlers who came to our area in far west Texas….We pray to the Lord.

May – 2008
May we imitate the example of the Blessed Mother and always be open to hearing and following God’s plan for us without measuring the personal cost… We pray to the Lord.

June – 2008
That we commit ourselves to the common welfare of our parish and communities… We pray to the Lord.

July – 2008
May we our hearts be willing and open to returning to God our first fruits – giving from our substance rather than our surplus…We pray to the Lord.

August – 2008
That we seek to see God in all whom we encounter… We pray to the Lord.

September – 2008
May we always remember - “all that we are” and “all that we have” is gift from a loving God… We pray to the Lord.

October – 2008
That our gifts of time, talent, and treasure will make a difference in the lives of others … We pray to the Lord. .

November 1st / 2nd Pre-Election Weekend  
May God grant our elected leaders the wisdom to be good stewards of all that will be entrusted to them…We pray to the Lord.

November 2008
During this season of giving thanks, may we always remember that God is the source of all our blessings… We pray to the Lord.
