VISION 2020
Our goal is to raise $20 million in endowment funds by 2020. Our immediate goal is to build the Foundation to $5 million by 2010. By reaching this goal, the Catholic Legacy Fund can supplement the Progress Annual Appeal and other revenue generated by the Foundation for the Diocese of El Paso.
Priorities of the Catholic Legacy Fund
The Foundation serves as a vehicle to support the annual and long-term needs of our growing Diocese. The Diocese has identified the following as priorities for funding support.
- Recruit and train new priests, deacons, parish life coordinators and lay ministers. The shortage of priests in the Diocese of El Paso is at a critical level. Endowment funds will support St. Charles Seminary and the ministries charged with preparing the future leadership of the Church.
- Foster Catholic education and religious formation to youth. The Diocese has 12 private and parochial schools that provide a quality education and foundation of religious values to nearly 5,000 children in our community. Endowment funds will help keep Catholic education the highest quality and affordable to families.
- Serve the spiritual and social service needs of our community through ministries. The Church has the capacity to serve the community and meet human needs like few organizations. The Diocese has 17 ministries that provide critical services to the community. Endowment funds will ensure the sustainability of our diocesan ministries.
- Sustain and grow our parishes. The 55 parishes and 22 missions in our Diocese work continuously to maintain and update our places of worship, education, service and community building. Parish endowments provide reliable funding to support operating expenses and capital improvements. And as our communities grow, the Diocese will have resources to build new parishes as needed.
