About this Fund

Robert and Emma Galvan left a generous estate gift for Cathedral High School, Robert’s beloved alma mater. Robert Galvan attended St. Patrick Cathedral School and graduated from Cathedral High School in 1940. He went on to Texas College of Mines (UTEP), served the United States Air Force from 1943-1946 and received a law degree from Southern Methodist University School of Law in 1949. He credits his high school sweetheart, Emma, for putting up with him and for giving him two wonderful children. Emma and Robert met in front of the Plaza Theater and were married at St. Patrick Cathedral on October 7, 1943. They were married for 68 years.

Judge Robert J. Galvan had a long and impressive career and a successful personal life. Cathedral continued to hold a special place in his heart all of his life, something he and his wife, Emma, would honor with a legacy gift to help other men get a stellar education at Cathedral.

Why Give to Endowment?

Endowment funds provide a vehicle through which individuals make outright or planned gifts that will have an everlasting impact on the ministry/parish/school. In time the income generated by the gift will far exceed the original donation.

As a result, endowed funds provide a perpetual, supplemental source of income for such things as the enhancement of programs and ministries, facilities maintenance, scholarships and seminary assistance, priest retirement, etc. Learn more about endowment funds.
