Annual Senior Class Mass & Challenge Inspires Philanthropy

October 03, 2019

The Foundation for the Diocese of El Paso cordially invites you to the 9th Annual Senior Class Mass & Challenge on Friday, October 4 at St. Patrick Cathedral at 8:30 a.m. Most Reverend Mark J. Seitz, D.D., Bishop of El Paso, will be the main celebrant.

The Foundation is challenging each senior class from Cathedral High School, Father Yermo High School, and Loretto Academy to raise at least $1,000 to support scholarship endowment funds for their schools. The Foundation will match up to $1,000 of what each class raises. The endowed funds are permanent funds for the schools that provide needed scholarships and financial aid annually to students attending Catholic schools.

Every year Catholic high school seniors come together to celebrate Mass and kick off the Annual Senior Class Challenge, a tradition started in 2011. The Foundation aims to work with our high school seniors to build community and inspire philanthropy.

To learn more about giving to El Paso's Catholic Schools, please contact Major Gifts Officer Sofía Larkin at 915-872-8412 or slarkin@elpasodiocese.org.

The Foundation currently manages 97 separate endowment funds for diocesan charities, ministries, parishes, and schools totaling $16.8 million. Of these, 30 funds are designated for Catholic schools with a combined value of $7.9 million; each one of El Paso’s Catholic schools has at least one endowed fund for scholarships. Every spring, the Foundation distributes 4% of the fund’s value to schools.
